About Us

Dr. Alvarez-Robinson is an accomplished leader in the fields of strategy, innovation, culture, leadership, and resilience. With over 30 years of experience, she has led major organizational improvement initiatives on a global scale across government, corporate, healthcare, and higher education organizations.

She founded Alvarez Strategy Partners, LLC in 2022 in response to demand from former colleagues who assumed leadership roles in complex organizations and needed her help. In addition to working with a few select clients each year, she serves as an associate vice president of strategy and organizational effectiveness at a top-tier research university.  There, she serves as a trusted advisor to leaders, engages people across the organization to define and pursue strategies, and builds resilience at the institutional and unit levels. 

For the past 5 years, she has taught a course she developed called Strategies for Building Resilience: Growing Through What We Are Going Through where she helps prepare future leaders to navigate adversity, challenge, and change. Starting as a short 5-week course in 2020, it has now expanded to a full semester course in the school of psychology. She has written and published several articles in peer reviewed journals and magazines on the topic of individual and organizational resilience.

Previously, she was a director in the people and change practice at PwC where she helped companies around the world successfully implement new technologies, improve operations, and pursue new strategies. Earlier in her career, she led public health strategies for the Georgia Division of Public Health, served as an internal consultant for the Georgia Department of Human Resources, led distance communication and learning strategies for the Minnesota Department of Health, led talent management strategies as an HR business partner for Cummins Power Generation, led culture and inclusion strategies for the Minnesota Department of Health, and led talent acquisition strategies for the Minnesota Department of Employee Relations.

Dr. Alvarez-Robinson earned her Ph.D. and master's degrees in Human and Organizational Systems with a focus on culture and leadership from Fielding Graduate University. She also earned a master’s degree in human development from St. Mary’s University and a bachelor's degree in human resource management from Metro State University, MN after starting her academic journey at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College. She was a Humphrey Institute policy fellow and earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and was previously a certified mediator with the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Her new book Lessons in Resilience is set to release in early 2026.
