About Us

Alvarez Strategy Partners, LLC (ASP) is a consultancy based in Atlanta, Georgia.  We provide strategy development and implementation services to organizations throughout the United States. We serve government, corporate, non-profit, and higher education organizations. 

Dr. Sonia Alvarez-Robinson has more than 25 years of professional experience focused on creating productive and thriving organizations. She has extensive experience designing, facilitating, and implementing strategies in large, complex organizations.  She is a published author, with her work focused on building resilient and thriving organizations through diversity, equity, inclusion, and full engagement.   

For the past 8 years, she has led a strategy and organizational effectiveness consulting team in a top-ranked research university.  In this role, she leads the development and implementation of the university's strategic plan including resource management and outcomes assessment.  She is also responsible for managing the processes to meet and exceed accreditation standards for administrative units.  

Dr. Alvarez-Robinson has led the university's Resilience Employee Resource Group, teaches a 5-week course on Resilience to students, and builds organizational resilience through strategy.  

 Prior to joining higher education full time, Dr. Alvarez-Robinson spent 6 years as a director in PwC's People and Change practice where she helped multi-national corporations, public hospitals, and universities create and implement new strategies by empowering, engaging, and educating their stakeholders.  

Prior to joining PwC, she was the Director of Strategic Resource Development for a state public health agency where she led the creation of strategy across 18 health districts.  She also led the health information and policy team, the training and development team, and the legal and community outreach group.  

 Dr. Alvarez-Robinson was Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the MN Department of Health where she developed and implemented strategies for greater inclusion of the workforce and constituents across a diverse spectrum of services.  She focused on building cultural competence through innovative developmental experiences (including immersion learning). She led public health workforce engagement and training through distance communication and learning long before videoconferencing was common. 

Her early career blossomed through work for the State of MN where she was a recruiter in the Office of Equal Opportunity, and a mediator certified by the MN Supreme Court.  The roots of her professional life are grounded in her first role as an EEO Counselor for the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development.  

Sonia earned a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems with a focus on culture and leadership.  She holds master’s degrees in Human Development and Organizational Systems and a bachelor of arts in human resource management. She earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).  

As a coach and mentor, Sonia helps people move through planned and unplanned life changes.  She volunteers with a care ministry, helping other widows navigate loss.  She also serves as the chairwoman on the DeKalb County Board of Health.
